JWC Fern Hill Reservoir

This CM/GC, $25.1 million, three-phased project for the Joint Water Commission involved the construction of a new 20MG AWWA D110 Type I pre-stressed concrete reservoir adjacent to the existing 20MG tank. Other phases of work included extensive water plant improvements to increase the overall plant capacity to 75MGD and approximately 2000LF of new 30-inch HDPE overflow lines and installation of about 2300 LF of 72” inch Welded Steel pipeline installed from the plant to the new reservoir. Design phase included design assistance, constructability reviews and cost modeling to produce GMP estimates at 30%, 60%, 90% and final design. Challenges included keeping the existing reservoir and water treatment plant operational during construction.
