Ward-Henshaw was selected as the contractor for this project thru a competitive and qualifications-based alternative project delivery procurement process. Our constructability review prior to start of construction allowed us to assist in a design change for the wall footing foundation which saved time on the schedule, provided cost savings, and reduced a potential leak joint for the Owner. Additionally, our team proposed alternative routes for yard piping that improved the project integrity and allowed for greater safety during construction. Scope of Ward-Henshaw’s work included construction of a new 3.0MG prestressed concrete reservoir, involving mass excavation, soil nailing stabilization, offsite stockpiling, and extensive coordination with nearby residents. Activities near an existing reservoir and pump station that needed to remain in service presented logistical challenges early that became a beneficiary of the collaborative team environment.
